150th Celebration

For generations, Aubrey has been called home.  As we celebrate the 150th anniversary of our city’s founding, we are proud to be recognized for the resilience and growth we have accomplished as a community.  There is an amazing spirit that abounds in Aubrey.  That spirit took root in 1867 and grows stronger each year.  We hope that you will join us in celebrating 150 years of success, resilience, culture and history.

Be a part of history as Aubrey commemorates its sesquicentennial birthday on September 16, 2017.  A day-long celebration will begin with a parade celebrating Aubrey’s heritage. Parade entries must pertain to the history of Aubrey only.  Costumes must reflect old-fashioned, Western, Native American or rural dress.

Aubrey Historical Society brings back the Saturday drawing from the early to mid 1900s when everyone gathered downtown for a drawing sponsored by all local merchants. As citizens shop with local participating merchants, they will be entered in the drawing.  Drawings will be held on September 16, 2017 during the 150th Celebration Event in downtown Aubrey.

Several contests will be conducted on the day of the celebration. There will be a bonnet/hat contest, a costume contest, a beard contest, and a grandma’s favorite recipe cooking contest.

Entertainment and various demonstrations will be held throughout the day.  All activities will be held at the downtown festival grounds.
